Golden Years Homestead
Activities

Whether you enjoy a joyful hymn sing, or relaxing in front of the red, brick fireplace, there is always something for the residents of Golden Years Homestead. Activities are geared to the interests of our residents because we're here to serve them.

Monthly event calendars are designed for the particular interests and abilities of the residents.

Apartment residents enjoy such things as bi-weekly exercise classes, card games, bingo, crafts, woodworking and trips to local attractions, such as the zoo, museums and area festivals.

In addition, nursing care residents are escorted on daily walks, have exercises, watch videos, play bingo, arts and crafts and much more.

Alzheimer's residents involve themselves with sensory, cognitive and physical activities.

Golden Years' religious foundation is also evident in the activities that they provide. Devotions, hymn sings and worship services are weekly events open to all residents. Golden Years has a full time Chaplain.

Several events that all residents enjoy are monthly birthday parties, theme luncheons hosted by Golden Years' staff and musical groups provided by Audience Unlimited, a non-profit group dedicated to providing meaningful activities for people in nursing homes.

For all the animal lovers, residents can speak with Radar, the African Grey Parrot, who really does talk. Or, they can enjoy the aquariums located around Golden Years Homestead, as well as interact with visiting dogs, Golden Years' favorite volunteers.
